Was trying to help Terrabytes new owner Dilip with the traveller system
There doesnt seem to be a release mechanism like the winder boats which releases the leeward rope when you pull the windward one on
cant believe you need to uncleat the traveller before the tack
any suggestions ????????/

There are some photos on the link attached. This is a system that is on Armed Forces and uses the mainsheet jammer to uncleat the leeward traveller cleat when you tack. Works very well once you get the string lengths right.
Hope this helps. http://www.merlinrocket.co.uk/gallery/default.asp?folder=gallery/rigging_guide/mainsheet

Too much rake.......... Centreboard at wrong angle........ Pintels stiff , bent or mis-aligned...... Rudder not down properly......... Arms too weak steer properly...... Too much weight in stern.......

Colin,
When I had Terrabyte I never had any issues with tacking, in fact in comparison to my previous boat (NSM2) it was a breeze so I doubt very much you will find any problem with the pintel alignment.
I had suggested to the current owner recently that if their budget allows they should invest in a carbon mast. I sold her with a tin mast although always sailed her with a Carbon superspar, and boy what a difference that made.

yeah somebody else said the tin masts make tacking heavier
its just the rudder feels heavy, look very wide compared with my winder one

Hmmmm, not sure about that one.
The rudder did not come with the boat when I bought it, I got that one off Paul Gilbert. It was a fixd rudder built by Kevin Driver,I had Laurie Smart convert it to lifting, don't think that would make any difference though. Might be worth a call to Kevin. It may just be a case of the owners getting used to the boat having sailed GP's for so long!
