Topic : Scam (real)

If you receive a card through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) saying that they have a parcel awaiting delivery instructions and can you contact them on 0906 6611911 DO NOT call the number as this is a mail scam originating from Belize If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICTIS at http://www.icstis.org.uk or your local trading standards office.

And there was me thinking that the maximum rate for a 0906 premium call was £1.50 a minute, and that you needed to dial something starting 00501 to get to Belize...

Amazing the things you learn on the internet.

Checking it out on the ICSTIS website you get:-

" This is what we know about the number you entered (09066611911).

We have the following information about this number.
This is a card posted through your letter box from PDS Parcel Delivery suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and to call the premium rate number in question. This service costs £1.50 per minute.
This service is under investigation by ICSTIS.
We also have contact details for the company that provides this service. If you have any queries about it, please get in touch with them to find out more.

Studio Telecom
1 Mapp Street
Belize
Belize City
Central America
[email protected] "

So a little truth and a lot of exaggeration, not that I'd fancy giving bunch of scammeres even £1:50

I presume, that to get to the level where you here the recorded message, you have been taken through a long automated press 1 to do ... etc and 10 minutes has passed. Anyway, I'm not going to check it out - or maybe my compliance department dropped the decimal point. They wouldn't have deliberately exagerated.

It's a good scam though, you would only have to canvas a couple of estates and you would have a new winder in no time.
