Well Bob,

It depends on whether you have 4mm, 4.5mm, 5.5mm or, if you're special like me you get 7mm melamine face "Bruynzeel" ply but I think I'm quite special!

Garry is extra special because his boat is solid mahogany planks and you'll have to ask him how thick it is!

If you need some new ply you can contact Robbins timber in Bristol, if you just need a little bit, post on here and see if somebody will give you a bit.

Hull must be a minimum uniform 6mm thickness.

Decks, as the man said, can be whatever you like; in the past we have seen cloth, mylar sheet, plywood, foam and carbon.

Be imaginative and show us something new, but only on the decks, please!

The mylar deck worked very well, it could support the crew when spin sheet lost, but was very noisy in the rain.

By: Tried that, might do it again.
Any floral cloth wetted out with SP! Well why not especially if it's not your own boat!!!

what happens if you use only 3 ply for a repair does it affect strength

presumably 6mm three ply wouldn't be marine ply, which is not a good idea.

6mm marine ply from Robbins Timber, Bristol.

3mm on deck will give suitable racking resistance, but, is very floppy on foredeck - not good for crew going onto to retrieve spinnaker.

PS you do not have to buy full sheets from Robbins.

The hull has to be 6mm thick, but when building with ply could it be made up of say 4-5mm 5ply and then sheathed inside and out with glass?
I guess this would be the same as a foam/glass sandwich or foam/wood sandwich...
