OK, the good ship White Whale is going in the garage this weekend.
Is a 750ml tin of International 2-pack (perfection) brushed on going to be enough, also, do I need 2-pack primer and should it be the international variety?

You'll get away with good quility aerosol primer, but don't get it from Halfords!
You need to go to a car paint supplier (Jawel if there is one near to you) and tell him exactly what you plan to do.

Hi Jon,
The last time I painted a N12 a tin of 2-pack was more than enough, so I would expect that you will be OK. You don't need primer but test the paint underneath by wiping a small area with some 2-pack thiners first to make sure it won't react.

Thanks guys. It's going onto melamine so it will need keying and priming I believe.
Chris, were you involved in doing any work on "The Fridge"?

I owned 'The Fridge' (William Perry - Chicago Bears - 18 stone and 11 second 100 metres!!) from new and she was sistership to 'White Whale'. SHe was sprayed from new as the planks were phenol (incorrect spelling)coated ply. Top tip - only put paint on when needed - its heavy and cosmetics don't win races!

I don't remember doing any work on it, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.
What are you painting thats lined with melamine?

Sorry, I think I meant phenol or whatever Scotty meant. Unfortunately I need to strip her off as the previous owner slapped some paint on and there is a reaction of some kind happening all over the underside.

Is it tiny blisters or is the whole lot coming off?
