MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : More ways to waste time

This handy little utility tracks down the location of our forum users, and plots them on a map of the world.

Interesting, though not entirely useful. Just nice to see what a wide audience we have! America, Germany...

Fear not, the tracker isnt THAT accurate, and only knows the physical location of your ISP (probably 20 miles down the road from where you are, at least).

Definately unreliable - no indication of anyone from the West Country and at least two of us from Wiltshire have posted in the last two days!

Also since when did Colchester and Stevenage come into Norfolk?? Or is it just Amercan geography which, like American history, is rewritten to suit themselves?

Just go on google earth if you want to consume some bandwidth.

Type "Google Earth" into google.
Follow the link
Download the installer
Run it
Be amazed!

In answer to your question, I think they download maps from a variety of sources and get them as you click.
