Alan could you please send any pictures of your boat,

I have bought my 2 merlins to date from the london area so travel is not a problem, so long as I get good honest descriptions and pictures and an agreed price.

How quickly are you looking to buy? My NSM2 "Absolute Madness", 3319, will probably be available after the Inlands in September. Beautiful boat, ready to sail, with combi trailer, professionally re-varnished and new P&B cover last year, new Batt Main and Jib last week! I'm never going to re-coup what I've spent on it but given how good the boat is I'd be hoping for offers >2500.

Pity, Sweet Charity was a great boat! How bad is she as i know a guy who used to own her and was looking to try and get her back! Is it repairable?
Also i have a plastic NSM 2 which i am looking sell to upgrade. It is a good club boat and has just come home from the champs so is also good for the sea. In good condition but a long way from Scotland (in London). Let me know if you are interested.

What happened Scoot?. Is it a complete wreck or worth a rebuild?. Garry's the man for the repair job !!!. Hope you get something sorted for Forfar Loch, if not Garry has both his old boats ready for use and he might lend you one.

Had already made the offer but it might be a bit too quick for him!!!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps not. Logistics of towing 2 boats a little tricky but might be able to sort something. Have added the extra buoyancy to 111 that you suggested Hamish.

Regarding the suggestion of me rebuilding it - remember that these modern Merlins are too wide for my garage hence the reason for the vintage wing restoratios!!!!

Some of the best spinnikar racing in my life went past a sigma 33 in the round cumbrae race yesterday stuck the nose in and net result a pitch pole riping the quadrant, frame and side decks off the hull. manged to save my new kite thought, rig? then had to try and sail it 4 miles back to largs with only 1 shroud. sent the insurance form off already, need to wait and see if they are quick I will probably go for a MSN2 if the are not quick I will try an other old smokers for forfar in september then regroup after setlment and buy something newer in the winter.

It works fine. Came second on Sunday at Hampton beating an NSM2 despite light winds, just leaks fast so you have to bail if going slow like Sunda, i.e. so slow the self bailers dont work. Anything where it is fast enough for them to work, no problem to use the boat.

Will send you pictures of the areas of work when I get home tonight.

I have spoken to some of the builders & repairs and it looks like big money for the hull alone nevermind the rig though the hull work could me done my a good DIYer. so its a case of waiting on the insurance.

If thats an accurate description of his "accident"
not sure I'll cover him in future! Sounds slightly rash behaviour to say the least.

comments for the underwriter,
I have sailed racing dinghies and power boats for 27 years and never before made a claim of any discription or been part of a third party claim against me.

So excuse me for not starting my story once upon a time.

But if you are a underwriter the I'm the type of guy who keeps you in a job

Well not quite!(-Keep me in a job,-) unless refusing cover at standard rates counts! I'm sorry if you feel I was harsh, but a healthy respect for the sea, and sound kit and not pushing too hard are all part of it aren't they.
By the way where were the safety boats?
What might the coroner have said?
I hope you find a new boat you obviously enjoy your sport. Good luck.

Don't worry Scott, If he were really an underwriter he wouldn't be commenting on it - he'd get sacked.

By: Not an underwriter either
