Topic : Jib arrangements

I have noticed that the jib sheets run into the hull quite a long way inboard, through fairleads and then back to the deck up through the deck and then back across the boat to the crew??!! sorry bout long explanation, frist thing is this a good/correct explanation of what i am aiming for!

Is there any other reason apart from the fairleads need to be inboard for a tight slot, and this arrangement makes it easier for crew to handle and cleat?!?!

You are correct. Normally the sheet is continuos. This make it easy for the crew to pick it up from the far side of a wide boat.

Where do you sail and what boat? Is it deck stepped or hog stepped? What adjustments can you make to your shrouds/jib Halyard / jib track ?

The boat is a proctor XII, sail in the midlands on rivers and lakes, boat is parked at welland yacht club due to the very little distance between home and WYC! will be sailing on rutland and in peteborough during the summer though. Jib fairleads currently on traks in front of the tharwt and just inside of the deck. So the boat will be sailed inland and mainly on rivers and smaller lakes.
