2000 RIVER THAMES SERIES

With Silver Tiller racing called off at Parkstone the Thames River series concluded at Ranelagh in violent conditions in stark contrast to the drift that started the series in February. Since the memorable first race, with only two for 16 entrants finished the series has visited Upper Thames, Hampton, Cookham, Thames, Tamesis, Minima Ranelagh sailing clubs with over 50 boats entering.

The Thames series finds the roots of Merlin sailing with results as much to do with consistency and skill tackling the fickle river conditions, as it has to do with having the latest gear. This year the series went right down to the wire and the last race deciding the overall positions for the Graham Donald Trophy (with the prizes being generously funded by Upper Thames Sailing Club):
