Abersoch Open 2005
A small but hardened group of stalwarts made the trip to South Caernavonshire on 6/7 May for the Holt sponsored Silver Tiller Open Meeting. A blustery NW force 4-5 led to interesting racing off Llanbedrog Head. Tom Stewart and Chris Downham (Loosed Canon) made an early impression in the first of four races but were overhauled by both Glen Truswell and Paul Davies (Rong Number) and David Winder and Jilly Blake (The Phantom Menace) who eventually went on to win the race. Showing great consistency Stewart and Downham led the second race for two laps only to be overtaken again by Truswell and Davies on a screaming run. Matthew Winder (Nice and Spicy) came third.|
Sunday dawned cold and clear with the wind again from the NW force 4-5. It was still anyone's meeting. The two main contenders battled it out with Stewart showing good speed to take the first race. Truswell came second and Matt Mee from Hollingworth third. The last race would decide the meeting. Truswell led at the windward mark and increased the gap to win comfotably and take the Silver Tiller points. Stewart was never threatened for second and David Winder came third to ensure third place overall.
