Topic : Bourne End Week

So with the lovely weather predicted to stay till after the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, who else is planning on doing Bourne End week next week? Always a good crack on the social side whether there is wind or not. Would be great to have a good Merlin turnout! :-)

Thanks Alex for starting this thread. I think we've had ten entries so far...

The racing this year is from Saturday 2nd June through to Tuesday 5th June. Thanks to the Jubilee and the extra bank holiday, there's no need to take any additional time off work.

Last year we had 16 boats attend, and it would be great if we could muster that many or preferably more this year, and maintain our standing as the largest fleet.

I hope David Vines will be defending his title, along with Mike Stephens who holds the MROA Vintage Trophy....if not, we need the trophies back please.

Registration is available through the club website via Sailracer or alternatively at the club on the evenings of Wednesday 30th May, Friday 1st June, or each morning of the event.

The BEW schedule is available on the Upper Thames website, together with details of the social events. As always, camping is available in ‘Sin City’, although there's a small fee this year, and the galley will be open from 0800 hrs.

Prize-giving is held on the Tuesday, but it’s possible to get a result without racing the final day, so why not come to the River Championships, and enjoy racing on the Thames.

Hi Mr P
Sadly I cant make this great event this year. Also sad to have to return the magnificent silver platter trophy! Fran is borrowing Elusive so at least she will get a chance to defend it!
Best

I haven't actually entered yet as only managed to sort out my crew(s) the other day. I will probably do it on Saturday morning unless i decide to make the walk from cookham one evening after work this week... :-)

It's a shame you can't come this year David, we had a good laugh last year. Good to hear that Fran is coming though.

It's happy hour on Friday Alex. Why not come then and have a beer!

How long is Happy hour then?!

We will be there on Monday in one guise or another. Jo is crewing for someone else and I will be along but in my OK!

Sadly while most don't need to take a day off, I am working the Saturday!

Normally it's 7-8pm, but sometimes it goes on a bit longer.

Glad to hear that Jo isn't deserting us and hope you enjoy the OK fleet this year Jeremy.

Great turnout of 18 merlins today so we've beaten last year's entry....... but there's room for a few more! Two different winners today - Mike and Jenny in Race 1 and Fran and Chris in Race 2. Challenging breeze as always - come and join in!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the visitors who came for the River Champs. 23 in the fleet and yet again the largest fleet of the week.

A challenging course set early in the event going downstream through the marina with good long spinnaker runs up river but by Monday the wind had swung round to the south...and out came the black flag!

Full results on the UTSC website.

Cheers Guys!
