Will you guarantee temperatures in the 30 Deg. C. Plus

If I could make such guarantees, I wouldn't be sitting here! The forecast looks like sunny, 3degC, 1 mph. Not great for sailors or commentators alike! So all the more reason to turn up because the chances of winning will improve with low numbers and Merlins are good in light weather pursuits, are they not?

Hi Mark, Duncan and i will be there, so get ready with the comments about a merlin with a pink bottom!
What are the chances of QM freezing over?
I look forward to seeing you there
Ian

...somewhat greater than hell freezing over and a trapeze boat winning it!

Hi Ian - I'll look out for you and your pink bottoms - which is very likely in the cold! I've known thin sheets of ice to form in light winds at QM, so it could happen this weekend, especially after a succession of cold days as we've had.

Fantastic Bloody Mary, great to see some Merlins in the top places, although Merlin representation seemed to be a bit down this year. What happened to them all? Especially enjoyed the commentary, particularly the David Coleman impressions. Well done Mark and thanks very much.

Vitually no wind and freezing cold had something to do with it I think!

By the way, what is a 'Punk', it came 2nd, but can't find a description anywhere on teh internet.

"Punk" is a single hander, about 13/14ft, una rigged. I am sure more detailed descriptions will be forthcoming.

Clearly must be good in light winds, any one got a picture of a 'Punk'.

Ashamed to admit we got as far as getting the boat on the trailer and then wussied out because of the cold (and apparent lack of wind).

Unbelievable pics on Y&Y site - looks like the Franklin expedition...

It actually wasn't that cold until the wind dropped in the last 15 minuites or so.

That was the best bit: we picked up about 10 places there since the big skiffs just stopped dead, but the Merlin just keeps on going...

For pictures of the Punk look on www.fotoboat.com, Bloody Mary, single hander, it is there, also some very nice shots of the Merlins.

Nick, I have just sent a Picture of you sailing off in to the mist to Ben Archer along with the report so it may appear soon. Was quite difficult to keep up with what was going on in that mist!!
