Club open Friday. Bar will also be open in the evening [have been reliably informed of this]

Best Campsite - Pen-y-Bont [3 min walk] all accomodation details are on bala website www.balasc.org.uk

Do not think I will be getting there, I have only managed two trips to Bala all year! [If I can get there, can I enter a boat that will not have been measured yet? One for Chairman GGGGG??]

Mr John Eaton [Sailing Captain] is standing in for me as a contact. 01678 520480 Or contact the secretary [email protected]

Enjoy the sailing

Has that campsite by the lake changed hands then? last time I stayed there the owner was Not Helpful, Rude, Overbearing and charged more than his facilities were worth. But that was a couple of years or so back. The site around 5 mins drive away was loads better, far more pleasant owner too.

The site 5 min drive away, up the hill has just changed hands - most of the club members have now moved off that site as a result, and moved to Pen y Bont.

I've never found the owners of Pen y Bont to be rude, overbearing or overcharging. As for their facilities; Good, clean, no queues, shop. So probably not talking about same owners.

I've lost my mag, anyone know what the old boats number is offhand?

The only problem so far with penybont is the will not allow new arrivals after dusk 7:45, so getting there friday night might be very close or just a lottery.

Always used to be 3400, don't know if thats changed.

Hopefully 3543!!
But its usually 10 years or older. what the number is I don't know, but what i do know is that my boat is too young by 6months on the year thing.

The year system wasn't used at Rutland last year because if it had have been we'd have won it in Armed Forces.

Can't find the mag for the NOR but i'd imagine that whether the cutoff for old boats is 3400 or 3518 Jon's boat will qualify!

I think you will find it is 3518. It was at the champs anyway. Quite suprising really to think that a boat in the 3500's can be considered an 'old boat' now, particularly since there is very little difference in design since mid 3400's

But they are old boats.

It's just that when these old boats were new boats, the then old boats were quite significantly differant.

I suppose we might have to think of something in a couple of years time when the Driver built boats become eligable though!!

Very true. I think i am just getting old as i remember like yesterday drooling over Dick Batts inovative new boat Dangerbatt (3400). Seems funny that it is now 18 yrs old!!
