Topic : Hog stepped NSM2 hoop height

Afternoon all,

Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Im refitting an old Winder built NSM2.

The boat came to me with its original hog stepped rig but without its factory fitted hoop.

The boat has a bridle set up on the thwart at present, installed by a previous owner. Does anyone know the height the hoop should be so I can purchase the tubing to get one made up to fit the boat?

The shaping on the thwart looks like it would have been a 20mm diameter stainless hoop with feet on it to attach to a mounting block on the floor in front of the thwart support knee.

If anyone knows the right height for a hoop or indeed has one that would fit then Id be very keen to have a chat.

Thanks

John.

  • Hi John The hight of your hoop is going to be dependent on a number of things perticulaar to your boat. Mast datum for a start. In short I would pop the rig up and put it at max rake. Depending on if you are going with a flatner or not ,this will give you the max hight of your hoop as determined by were your boom is. Good luck.
