Topic : Varnishing CF boom

Hi

My carbon fibre boom and poles are starting to look very weathered and my winter project is to rejuvenate them.

Have been advised to use 2-pack polyurethane varnish to cover it after sanding back to the epoxy.

Does this sound right and can anyone recommend the best varnish to use for this.

Am also considering doing the spinnaker poles as well, just concerned that 2-pack might not 'flex' enough?

Thanks in advance

I have to get a couple of layers of tough White Paint off my mast so I can refurb.... easiest way to do this ?  Sanding? Stripper (or does that eat the mast!?)

Scraping with a stanley knife is as savage as you want to go. Sandpaper is best, just get the loose stuff off. Unfortunately the painted ones do get tatty quite easily.

I re-furbed a boom a few years back; 240grit sandpaper, if I remember correctly...wearing a mask, of course! You can easily seen when you are through the paint and need to stop.
