I'm not sure I get the way this has been scored, I can see its just a straight lift out of the overall ST results but if its a standalone miniseries should it not be scored 1 ,2, 3 etc?
The way it is means that one good result and the series is already over which is unlikely to encourage greater participation.

The final results of the Classic Mini Series are now posted here:

Congratulations to David and Rosemary and Abigail Croft.

I think its fair to say that this hasn't been an overwhelming success.

In answer to Martin's question above, we did consider the scoring system that you describe at a committee meeting before the series started, and the decision was that it would be fairer to use the ST points scored at each event.  It was discussed at length and there were pros and cons to both methods.

Tim Harridge did calculate the results today using the other method as an exercise in whether it would have made any difference, and the answer was very little.

The prize-giving for this series will be at the Silver Tiller dinner.

It's a shame this hasn't been a success given all the chat on this forum earlier in the year. It would be interesting to hear comments from the other classic boat owners about why they felt this was not for them.

Hi, I sail an Outrage design (2266) and would love to take my son onto open water of some sort. Unfortunately, we have a substantial leak (or maybe more!) so until Mr Scott has worked his magic, we won't be going anywhere just yet. The concept is a good one and I hope the experiment will be continued in 2016.

Another isuue for us is trying to squeeze these events in during term time-not easy if said crew (and I think a very good one) is involved with Rugby, Hockey etc and all that that entails.

Hope these comments help.

At least I did make it to 2 of the events I said I wanted to do this year.  I would welcome the series being repeated next year.  There were several older boats out and competing here and there if you look at the overall Silver Tiller results but a lot did not do any other meeting than their home club.  It is a bit of a hassle packing up the boat and then rigging it up again over 2 hours drive away and this will put people off if they are generally happy just sailing at their own club.  There are a lot of other constraints on my time at weekends but I will definitely get on the water for one or two open meetings next year - hope to make it to a sea meeting.

Andrew, Heaven Sent.
