Just looking through the results and I notice that 3411 is down as a participating at Wroxham. Is this not newer than the  3357 cut off??

I ask as there are a number of boats available that I know of that fit inbetween and are not sailed as they do not fit in either series.

Hi Jez, I wasn't at Wroxham but I did score 3411. Dana was there to sail and I agree that he was allowed to on the day. I ignored his results and just put him down as last. I think we have been joined by 'guest boats' in the past. No Boat over 3357 will be allowed to accumulate points nor qualify. Naturally, I welcome any further discussion on the notion of the occasional 'gust boat' joining in, being given rights on the water and being scored last on the day ! Luka is the only exception at present and has a 2% penalty for 'newness'.

Thanks Ben,

Do we know if the cut off is going to move by a year next year or is this number set for the forseable future?

I think the whole "old boat" classifcation thing needs to be reviewed, probably more in terms of designs rather than actual age of the boat.

Hi Jez, At present, the roll-on 30 year rule comes to a halt at 1985 (boat no 3357). As you may imagine, I wish only to report the facts in this reply. It is neither my position nor my intention to be involved in a major review at this point in time although any member is welcome and encouraged to state an opinion whenever they wish to do so.

Thanks Ben, as I thought. I have asked these questions as I have just bought myself another old boat and thought it should really qualify as vintage but it doesn't.

It is a Winder built Up Town Girl of which there was only ever two built. They are a modified NSM 2 so still an old design. Mine is the second, No.3368 but the first is number 3338 so as you can see one qualifies the other doesn't which does not seem right. I realise this is going to happen with a number of designs but when there is only 2 of one design it does rather highlight it.
