The present owner has put quite a lot about the history on the listing.  Just to say it is all true, including that it would be a competitive boat inland with an updated rig.  A good introduction to Merlin sailing.

I used to crew for Guy Winder in this boat in the early 90's, where we won the odd open meeting race against much newer boats.  The picture is deceptive as the mast is deckstepped (on top of a section that comes up from the hog to the deck) with a fully adjustable rig (Shrouds, jib & Strut : the lowers just prevent sideways bend at gooseneck level).  A fast boat in lighter conditions and sure to provide plenty of fun.

Looking at the for sale list on here the price is similar range for similar age boats. But there is that damaged gunwhale. Famous though, if it's in the book
