MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Identification help

I wonder  if some could help identify the model of my Merlin Rocket along with anything technical (weight for crew etc)

Sail number is 1624 which just seems way off anything I can see on other sail numbers.. A picture is available here

I acquired it from a lovely chap who was a skilled craftsman and I don't think it has seen water since it was repaired/and stored for winter.

Merlin Rocket 1624 is listed in the yearbook as a Wyche and Coppock Mk IX designed by Ian Proctor. This is probably Mr Proctor's best known design and there is a description of it's characteristics in the design guide pages of this website. The Wyche and Coppock boats were known for their excellent construction, my father sailed one of these for many years on the river Thames.

I hope its ok but I used your text and popped it on Ebay...

Quite sad as we have never used her but from what I have read and seen, its probably not the boat for us to learn to sale relaxingly on. EVERY pic my wife has seen has people leaning out of it which really isnt her thing and to be honest not mine.

We just happened to be in the right place at the right time and it seemed a good idea. If anyone is interested let me know... I couldnt rate it highly enough for quality (but I dont know much about boats)
