Topic : Full Length Carbon Mast

Happy New Year Everyone,

With the new year comes new discussions and even more fiddling :) I am in the process of ordering a full length carbon mast for my Merlin Rocket 2235. (off the Hog). I am looking for advice from those who have already done this with there older boats, things that need to be considered that might have been overlooked, problematic areas ect. I am yet to get in contact with someone who has already done this, if I could be pointed in the direction of a fellow classic sailor or someone with experience in making this transition advice would be welcomed,

All the best for the new year,

Jonty

Jonty,
Most of the carbon hog stepped masts I know of have been supplied by Superspars.
You will need to consider having it sleeved from the bottom section up to the goose neck area.

I had a hog stepped Carbon Superspar on 'Deep Thought' it was fine , there wasn't any sleeving apart from a protector at the gooseneck, I would think that most of the manufacturers would make you a long tube.

It does take a long time for them to price up a different rig...

I'd recommend chatting to Dave Hayes at Srlden. That was much quicker than getting a quote from SS.
