Topic : Where do I get my mast repaired?

I've got a Chipstow carbon mast that needs work; part of the track is coming away from the tube at one point, and the varnish is opaque to the point where its impossible to see what else is going on underneath.  I'd like to get it attended to by someone who knows what they're doing - and that's not me!  From what I can see, Chipstow are no longer trading and I'm wondering who else can do the job.  The mast and the boat it belongs to are at Ranelagh, so ideally I'd be looking for a repairer not too far away.

Hello Derek, Having just put a Chipstow mast back together with instruction from Mr Chipstow himself: The sail track is epoxied on (ie not a major job). The epoxy just has some black pigment added.

The varnish, just needs sanding off and then revarnishing (2 pack professional). Neither one is a major job so it shouldn't be too difficult to find some one who'll fix it.

Should imagine any boat builder near yo could sort it.

Hi Derek

I am based in Lymington and would be happy to do the work for you.

I repaired similar mast track problems on my Chipstow rig.

I have all the bits to do the work.

Hi Gareth,

That's very kind of you  to offer - I think the best thing would be for me to bring it down to you so that you can see what needs doing.  I'll message you again on here as soon as I've got the car sorted...

Pretty much any decent repairer will be able to do this, but most won't post on here regarding work.

Lawrie smart is probably nearest to you in haywards Heath, Brett Dingwall is further east then you've got me and Phil just outside Birmingham - not forgetting p&b either in Northampton.

All very experienced and equipped for the job.
