MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Aerial footage of Salcombe

Some of you might have seen me and my little quadcopter getting utterly out gadget-ed on Mill Bay by a guy with a significantly bigger and better drone with a gopro attached. He's called Paul and has done some timelapses and Merling viewing from above. His youtube channel is here:

And this is the Day 5, Race 9 Start, which features a certain upturned Black Boat! :-)

The footage is fantastic and I think I need a new toy!

Happy viewing!

It was over a year ago that I predicted this was the future of photography for dinghy racing. I didn't have the cash back then, and still don't! Can't wait to see more from Paul.

The beefy copters can even carry SLR cameras. I'd love to see some closer shots, circling the boats, hovering low over the water and shooting up as they approach.

I'd love to get a lift from its downdraft, I need all the help I can get on the startline.

Great footage, Love the bit at 2:30 where three boats tack underneath it as it passes over!

Hi,
Does anyone have a contact for Paul Brown, clever chap who produced aerial footage of Salcombe 2014.
Thanks,
Alex
