I don't think the proper ram with the correct ends is actually that expensive. Is it the old holt lever strut?

Im in the process of refurbishing 3326 (its a NSM1). and being on a tight budget Im going to make my own mast ram out of some Aluminium tubing I have in the shed .. But can anyone tell me the length of the standard ram and especially the distance between the pins.\r\n\r\nThanks\r\n\r\nSteve C

A telescopic ram sounds a great idea I wonder if I can find a piece of bar that will fit inside my tube. !!! .. what I have done so far is to put the mast up and make a template out of wood with an old broom handle. With the ram set vertical it is around 63cm end to end but as the mast is far more likely to need leaning back than pulling forward I thought I might make mine slightly longer at 65cm .. then can always cut it down if it proves to be a bit long. Asking for the "normal" hole to hole length was to save me the period of trial and error to get it right. \r\n\r\nSteve

"Steve - Mine is telescopic and made of two lengths of stainless steel tube, one sleeved in to the other and joined with a pin so you can adjust it to suit different mast positions at the outset and then fine tune it with the under deck lever. I will try and remember to measure it when I get home tonight.  Cant you put the mast up and measure the distance to get the length you need."

I was just thinking that lowers might be easier to fit - if you have a few blocks and some dyneema...
