MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : My Old Woodwork Teacher

Hi Ben

Yes, Justin is still an active member of Starcross Yacht Club near Exeter, although recently he hasn't managed as much sailing as he used to. It's fair to say that 3622 is a reluctant sale, but he also owns 3260, a stunningly beautiful wood NSM2 built by JT, which he is planning to sail again when the weather gets a bit warmer. As far as I know Justin never owned a Ghost Rider, but he did have a Smokers Satisfaction which he finished himself from a Rowsell shell to a very high standard.

Regards

Dave Lee

I was just looking through the list of Merlins-for-sale and spotted, "Owner = Justin Eddy", in the 3622 advert. Quite Remarkable .... I'm blown away !
Is Justin still active anywhere ..... (in the Scillies, maybe ?) ?

I was a pupil in Justin's woodwork lessons in London in 1964/5 (next year I had to change to Metalwork which wasn't quite as much fun!).
In ~1977 Veronica and I travelled to Spud Rowsell's where the 'apprentice' Turner acted as intermediary, selling us Merlin 2891 (Ghost Rider; "Draculus") which was owned by Justin who then lived in the Scillies so couldn't be available in person; we had lots of fun in her. After school-days, never met Justin again, but have very fond memories.
Ben
