Topic : USA Hazardous Boat Building Project - July Update

Hi!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer and full of sailing activities. Just updated my blog with the work done in July. I finished planking the hull, then fitted the stem and the bilge keels.

July was hot and August promises to be hotter and steamy.

Use the link below to visit my blog. As always, comments are welcome.

Cheers!

She looks lovely, a credit to your skills and Keith's detailed instructions. Are you going to leave her varnished?
I hope so your craftsmanship deserves to be seen.
Well done keep it up.
When will she be finished?

Barnsie, David, Miles, thank you for your kind words.

I plan to varnish only her deck and transom. There are too many pencil marks on the hull that wouldn't look good at all if I left it varnished. Thank you for your vote of confidence but I'm not at that level of craftsmanship yet. I've seen on pictures many of the varnished Merlin Rockets that are really a work of art. Very humbling and inspiring at the same time. Some day, perhaps. This is my first one ever.

I hope to have her ready by late October or early November, if all goes as planned.

Cheers!

David,

Credit is due to Keith for his detailed instructions and relentless support. Likewise to many MROA members who offer me their help, advise, experience and encouragement throughout the build process. All true ambassadors of the Merlin Rocket Class.

Kind regards,

Julio
