David, I don't have the full results, but I do have the Yachts and Yachting report on the 1964 nationals. It extends over nearly 3 pages and contains several photos. A young Patrick Blake won the Silent World trophy. Tony Lane, Brian Southcott, David Child and Brian Ellis were the other race winners. If you would like a copy, let me know.

Hi Keith
Thanks for reply. Did try to email you and had a failure notice. I do have a copy of the Y & Y article and the Daily Telegraph reports except for one day. Nick Truman was asking me for the day to day full results. David Child rang from Denmark yesterday. He had tried Parkstone Yacht Club. It appears they have destroyed their records

Yes, about two years ago we had a reunion lunch at Lowestoft of the Broads Merlin Rockets (1961-1970.) and Nick Truman asked me if I had the 1964 results, I did not but said I ask around, - Nick has no e-mail rarely uses a mobile! - I tried the MROA Keeper of Records and then a few of the "usual suspects" finally Parkston Y. C. who had had roof leak and junked the papier mache that was their records. So I drew a blank all round. Nick's interest was, and apparently still is, in the number of Surf Scoters that were in the first 30. Just possible I suppose that someone out of the 170 odd that were there does have.

I do have the overall results for the championships in 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1977 but I regret not for 1964.
I also have the sailing instructiona for the champs in 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970,1973, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982. Some of these contain the entry list in that year.
Please let me know if any of this information is of use to you.

I don’t have the full results but do happen to have The Dinghy Year Book 1965 which has a photo of a start with some sail no’s. visible and a write up on the 64 nationals including ‘... and N.A.Truman from RNSYC sailed consistently well to finish second and third respectively.’ Surf Scoter was 3rd in the practice race and 6th for the Founders Cup (Graham Leech 3rd, David Leech 5th). Clyde Quaich 4th Surf Scoter (5th David Leech). Quotes that in the first ten boats overall six different designs were represented. Apart from the practice appreciate the above may be very little additional info. but if you want copies it would be no trouble and my pleasure.
