Just read the y&y forum on this years endeavour, merlins seam to be getting some unwanted comments as Cristian is down to represent them, most people seem to think its the helm that qualifies for the entry, I must admit that was my understanding of the rules? |
I understand that the class gets an invite and nominates a representative, not necessarily the Champion. I was honoured to represent the Phantom class some years ago when it was sailed in Enterprises, having come third in the Nationals. Great event - still smile at the memory of the whole fleet bowing down, "not worthy" style, to the late and greatly missed Jonny Merricks. Class. |
Andy is correct the classes get an invite to the event. In our case Stu had already committed to the 470 class before he won the merlins. the club were happy to have either Helm or crew from the winning boat at the champs so Christian took up the option for us. |
Morning Folks |
Perhaps we stand a better chance than ever of having a Merlin sailor win this year as I counted 7 sailors who were competing at Lyme Regis in the line up! http://royalcorinthian.co.uk/endeavour/entrants/ |
I make it 10, any advance???? |
We make it 11..........? |
Why not name them? Then we do not have to guess. |
I make it 12.... |
Not suprising it is such tough class to win in with quality like that, and that is just a small portion of the talent. |
Add Matt Mee to that list of Rocketeers. |
And Chris Owen (2nd Nationals 1983, crewing Spud). |
