Hello fellow rocketeers. Have just purchased MR 3366 Chateau Venus, she is a summer wine design, and seens in good condition. Obviously being wood shw will require a good rub down and paint. What paint do you recoment, and likewise with Varnish? Many thanks Paul

Varnish Vinciani. Slightly more but a better product. Jacko used to swear by it

Hi Paul, no but he (Chipstow Boats) will be helpful with the advice. I used Glasurit but it is more expensive and a spray paint. http://color-online.glasurit.com/

Epifanes is another 'premium' paint and varnish manufacturer; excellent and no more expensive than international or blakes. Robbins sell it amongst others.

Think DH is right on the spelling. If no longer available, a shame as a great product

identify 1-part by putting thinners on it and leaving to soak; 2-part won't dissolve.

Hi , I think this is a question for Paul Jones if he still sails Merlins. I have recently acquired MR 3366 from Chris in Broadstairs. It was in a very sorry state, peeling varnish, bleached wood and failing glue after being left in the open for two years with no cover. It is almost back to it's full glory. We have stripped and re-varnished the deck but need to touch up the hull in places which has proved more resilient -perhaps a re-coat- and wonder if the colour is Epiphanes Bright Blue 3107? If not what is it please? Thanks
