Topic : Is it possible to glue the seem of bouyancy bag

The seem has gone on the corner of one of my yellow crewsaver buoyancy bags. Sadly the extra covers don't actually cover the very corner of the bags, and looks like UV may have caused it. Only about 1 inch would need gluing. Is this possible, and if so what kind of glue/materials are needed.

Cheers, Ross

You're going to entrust your boat, yourself and your crew to a bit of bike repair kit?

Nice. Paging Darwin. Mr Darwin to the gybe make please.

Imho, only do it if you will never, ever capsize again. Ever.

I have repaired a pin hole with neoprene glue before very sucessfully but if there is UV damage to a large area it could all go pop at any time.

BTDT. I think I used Evostik contact adhesive & put a large repair patch over the top and hoped for the best. I'm afraid it didn't work and the advice above is correct, you need to shell out for a new bag.

Glue, no. I have successfully repaired using an improvised heat press, but you have to get it just right and also ask yourself why it has gone in the first place; if by normal wear & tear then it's probably ready to go some place else.

Canvas covers protect bags, and also make them much more efficient by holding them firmly down.

We've used Bostik All Purpose glue and a cycle repair patch but I think that was on smoother Holt bags. Try one of the airbed repair kits from camping shops as the fabric is similar.
