Hope you get a buyer quickly - not many Thin Ices around - ours is number 11 of 11 (previously thought there were only 10!) - good luck

The photos on Ebay look as if the were taken at night!
I'm looking for a spinnaker for club racing. if purchased I'd like to have it sent by post rather than travel from Weymouth up North!

That went for less than I expected, I wished I'd popped a bid in now instead of roast beef & yorkshire pud. Lovely boat.

£730 for a Rowsell Thin Ice! Bargain for someone!! Even my index finger was hovering over the bid icon............until the wife walked into the room! :-)

Am I imagining it or has this boat just appeared on the for sale list? With the same description and still with the carbon rig on!

Jez, yes it has and at a more realistic price. That said not quite sure how that works on ebay if sold but that's someone elses problem.

As an ebay user I think that he could be in big trouble with ebay on that. Once an item is sold on ebay that is a binding contract which means that as a seller you can't just withdraw it AFTER the auction has ended. If you have a price in mind then put that figure as a reserve on it. The buyer makes a bid in good faith that if he outbids everyone he wins - that's what a auction is for. That's the danger of ebay - or the attraction - depending whether you are a seller or the buyer. Sometimes stuff goes for silly prices, at others you can get a bargain. Looks like that was a bargain.

Well that depends. It was with an ali mast and the decks need at least stripping and revarnishing if not replacing (if you want them to look pretty) and just the varnishing would cost a significat amount if you could not do it yourself. Ergo, it is only a bargin if you can do the work yourself and don't want a competative rig.

or perhaps whoever bought it off ebay bought the carbon rig and thought he'll make some cash quick by banging it on the merlin site for sale for a higher price

Well, I think the original owner bid on the auction himself to secure a good price, or at least make sure it didn't go for a song. My speculation is that he (or a friend) won his own auction and has reverted to the MR for sale list to sell at a realistic price - a new carbon boom and spin poles would cost more than £730!
So long as ebay gets the commission for the sale I don't suppose it care who buys/wins an auction and if you want to advertise your own stuff and win it back, paying the £40 final value fee, whose to say its wrong. It has to be better than letting a lovely boat go cheap. The current seller is still the original owner if I'm not mistaken.

Interesting to read the post it did sell to the same guy but he thought it came with a road base didn't read description properly!! He decided not to bother and just paid me for the eBay fees. Which was fine as others have echoed above a more realistic bargin price on for for sale section. Welcome to offers if anyone is intrested for a merlin sailor? the sails and undercover sold at a bargain price.
