Any one know the ancient history of this one. I looked it up in recent year book but couldn't find it. The name rings a bell. I just shipped 2 second hand jibs out to Dubai for her.
Recent history, to quote the current owner, is 'a Brit that brought it to Abu Dhabi when he moved, and later on sold it to a Frenchman. I bought it from the French guy and brought it to Dubai'

According to the 1985 YB her next owner was K Bater at Cookham SC. The 1988 YB shows no owner but by 1989 she was owned by K Boon at Queen Mary. In 91/92 he/she was joined by another owner C Feibush.
The 1995 year book records the owner as M Smith who lived at Cowley, Middx but no club is shown.
The 1999 YB shows the owners as Stuart and Debbie Turner in Hayling Island but there are no more owners recorded in later years.

In 2001 I went to Hayling Island to have a look at Vampire, as she was a similar price to 3245 which I bought the next week. Vampire was upside down in a campsite, and I was very interested to see the beautifully curved wooden rear tank. I emailed Dick Batt who said she was a little slower to empty after a capsize because of it. I think she sat on the secondhand list for quite a while after that.

I seem to remember she had a different thwart to the standard design at the time.

Hello, this was my lovely old NSM 1 which was completely restored by a local pro using Awgrip products. She was the most beautiful Merlin that I have ever owned .Unfortunately my then partner and I had a complete breakdown in our relationship and she held onto Vampire. She was Batt's old boat and allways wondered what became of her.My late father and I were members of CRSC many years ago and had to buy her as his initials were BAT which obviously went with the boats name.Being a half Frenchman, I am delighted with this result. You have no idea how much I have wondered over the years as to her fate and now feel at peace as she isn't rotting away is someone's garden.Thank you. Stu.
