Could anyone help me identify which model boat no. 1974 is and maybe a name? We hope to get her back on the water next year. Many thanks. DH

The year book says she is a Ian Proctor mk 9b built by Chippendale towards the end of 1966. Her name in the book is "Cutlass", which rings a bell but I don't know why!

David - Cutlass belonged to Peter Ashton & you (with Flower Child) were both members of Ranelagh 1967/8!

Now I recall though I only did the occasional race at Ranelagh and in the winter Peter Ashton was the other Merlin Rocket Class undertaker, signed his letters and Christmas cards like Alan Warren, yours eventualy!

Cutlass also belonged to Keith Edwards at Hampton (I think he bought it in 1974, coincidentally). I sailed it with Keith a few times, including one windy Silver Tiller at Island Barn when we led round every windward mark and finished about 5th, having been rolled by all the wide boats downwind. Dicky Hotston won that event, iirc; Keith went home and immediately ordered a new Smokers (2976, Duel Control).
