Topic : Silver tiller events questionaire !!!

Hi i have put together a very basic survey to try to get a little bit of information into the way the fixtures should be structured for next year.
if you would be kind enough to click this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/59N5FGK and answer the multiple choice questions it would be a great help so we plan a really good years sailing next year.
i do stress the questions are basic so any further comments are welcomed to my email address [email protected].
thanks alot

Ben has recently taken over the ST calendar for 2012 and would appreciate some post (mid) 2011 ST feedback, basically what does the class want their association to do?

For additional comments and suggestions please drop him an email.

I filled it in.
Surprisingly for Ben, it does not appear to have a place called 'Midlands'

Bump!

It's really important that people, including the regulars, give thier feedback. If we don't we could quite easily end up with something that nobody likes in an effort to please everyone!

Not sure if surveymonkey has registered my responses.
Basically very happy with the way things are.
Our reason for buying a Merlin was largely to have a choice of open events in places that we wanted to go to (South Coast/west mainly), although we can't make that many events and will opt out on a windy forecast.
Balance of 1 and 2 day events seems good.
As ever, hope to do a bit more next year!
It would be good to see a few more older boats.
Thanks,
Chris (3442)

Ben I think the Shoreham event should be earlier . If we stick to the equivalent week-end in 2012 it will clash with the Olympics ( I have tickets ) but also members are reluctant to venture forth in marginal conditions when the Champs are so close . This year the decision to cancel was easy with winds reaching 29 knots but in a previous year only six boats ventured forth in the top end of a force 5 .

Shoreham was a fortnight before the nationals.
That's long enough to get most things fixed.
Some event will always be the last before the nationals.
It's good to have a sea event to prepare for the nationals, and this year and last it was even sunny.
Something has to clash with the olympics, those of us who aren't going need something to do!
Would more people go to Shoreham at a different ime of year? It's good that it's in the camping season, as it's one of relatively few clubs with free camping.

The "problem" with Shoreham is that it's often pretty breezy and the sea state can be very challenging. If you break your mast a fortnight before the champs you are very unlikely to have it back in one piece in time.

Since you really want your first choice kit for the champs, people are less inclined to risk it. Understandable i think.

I seem to remember that Shoreham has it's current slot because for three or four years there was no wind at all at an ealier date, so it's swings and roundabouts really! Any event immediately prior to the champs - or Salcombe to a point - will suffer from a windy forecast, for the same reason.
