MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Salcombe - bad news

Our friend's house in Salcombe burnt down at the Easter weekend - anyone who knows Pete and Sue Colclough will know they had recently moved into the big red house on the waters front along from the Marine. Everyone is OK, all children and grand children who were staying got out in one piece, but the house is a wreck and Pete and Sue are naturally devastated and in a state of shock. They have moved back into their holiday let and the town has rallied around to support them.

In comparison my problem is minor, but I am now looking for accommodation for 4 - Sue and I and Dave Hayes and his lady Clotsy. If anyone has any spare rooms available for the week, please let me know.

Very sorry to hear of your friends devastating circumstances, but have you happened to read our post about salcombe accomodation, posted 18th april? We need someone to take over our 4 berth accomodation in Batson to enable us to get a larger property to accomodate more family who would like to join us. It's quite reasonably priced and has lovely views down batson creek, please contact coast and country cottages if you're interested.

Hi Tim,

is that the one and the same Pete Colclough of 505 fame? Last I heard of him was at a marina down in France where he'd called in to re-provision his yacht!

Thanks for the offers - I am now sorted

Dougal - yes the very same multiple 5o5 World Champion. Pete has a 60ft Super Maramu that he has been cruising around the Med and over to the Caribbean in recent years. I guess he will be spending a bit more time on the boat this year!
