As far as I know Weston does have Vintage Merlins but no class racing whereas Hayling and Parkestone do have class racing for modern boats though of course vintage boats can join in.
Parkestone and Hayling are large clubs with enviable fascilities. Weston is well equip[ed but somewhat smaller. All are welcoming, but what club isn't these days.
Weston at SO31 5FB is easily closest. Junction 8 M27
Parkestone at BH14 8EH and Hayling at PO11 9SL at the opposite extremeties of the M27 are probably about the same.
Both Hayling and Parkestone have traffic issues at busy times on the roads.

There was a Merlin out at Lymington tonight, modern Winder.
A nice place to sail, not tidally constrained like many Solent clubs.

Hello!

Mark and I were in the merlin at Lymington Town. Between town sailing club and the Royal Lym there are 3 merlins and you can race out of both, so twice as much sailing!

Drop me an email if you would like to find out more, we'd love to have another merlin joining us :-).

Lymington is a perfect place to sail Merlins. Clean water, good racing, great clubs and racing 4 times a week. Is it time we started a fleet there?

We love Lymington, it is a fantastic place to sail. Shame there is no ST there this year, last years was such fun in amongst the big yachts from Cowes week. Shame we never got to call Starboard on one!!

I was there under false pretences last night, trying to get my friend's RS800 rigged. Will probably swim around it next wednesday!

A quick look at Weston's results on the Interweb suggests that the level of Merlin activity is aprroximately nil.
Don't think there are any at Stoke's Bay or Lee either.
Don't know about Netley.
There are a lot of clubs to choose from, I foolishly once volunteered to contact every club within 50 miles of Portsmouth!

Both LTSC and RLymYC are friendly and active. By allowing members of either club to participate in one another's dinghy races, it guarantees good numbers (albeit handicap fro merlins at the moment) and 4 chances to race every week during the summer.

Monday evening is Royal with Weds for LTSC. There's 3 Merlins and counting!!!! anyone else fancy a visit?

Mark I would love to but it might be a bit tough for us to get there in time since I finish work at 6 every night and am a good hour and fifteen minutes plus away!
