Having seen nothing on the Forum I thought I should post a brief note for the benefit of those who of you did not know that Spud had a successful heart operation a while back but had a pretty rough time of it afterwards. However I'm told he is now on the mend and feeling much better. For those who would like to send a card his address is 2, Foxholes, Maer Rd, Exmouth.

Spud has left Derriford Hospital and is having treatment at Exeter now .

I have just been talking to Spud - he walked 300yds today!
That is a big step forward on his road to recovery.
He sounds almost like his old self and asked me to thank all his old friends from the Merlin Class for their support! He is realy touched be all the support he has had.

Liz and I visited Spud and Jan yesterday. As reported above he is making a steady recovery from what have been serious complications after heart surgery.
He showed me the many cards he has received from his Merlin and Yawl friends and asked me to pass on his thanks. He really appreciates your best wishes and messages of encouragement.
In preparation for the visit I did a little research and listed for him all the Merlin Rockets built by Rowsells. He was astonished to see that they built over 300 in addition to the many 12s and Cadets.
If anyone is intending to visit Spud at home please ring Jan first.
