Having chatted to Mrs Tosh, Deepy and Dirty Hands we reckon that one day will be more than enough. So the date draws nearer Friday 17th September - I suggest that we each book our tickets on line and I will coordinate a meeting place early on Friday morning (we could set out from my gaff near Guildford - anyone wanting a bed for the night can stay) and we go in convoy to Goodwood. And for anyone whos ancient machinery packs up, we can meet inside the track later. http://www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/welcome.aspx |
Hi Stuart, you can count us in sounds like a great day out and I can still go to Wembley as well, Mrs G will say that I do not need to find any 'period' clothes as all mine are that old anyway! |
so where are you deepy calvert etc - dirtyhands and john dalby are all signed up! |
Hi all, |
Hoping to go, all depends on my Dad! |
just reminder - the date draws closer - any more joining us - you dont have to come in a vintage vehicle - just vintage clothes |
Sad to report that it looks unlikely that the Tiger Cub will be fixed in time - recent umteenth stripdown reveals that yet another new piston is required, which although ordered takes many hours of handwork to cut down to clear the flywheels - thinks, why did I ever build up this special engine??? However I intend being there, in appropriate attire, and can travel down with local motoring pal in period four wheeled transport. I look forward to seeing all of you there. Remember to wave in case I don't recognise you in smart clothes. |
To all Goodwood revivalists. I hope you enjoy your day out and as an unashamed plug, please join us at Wembley the next day (18th Sept) for our Training day (either as a trainer or trainee!) with Pat & Gilly Blake and Steve Watson. Then I am pleased to report that Wembley's ST is back after last year's absence on Sunday (19th) (if you can't make Saturday), with discounted entry for visiting clubs bringing 3 boats or more, 3 races back to back, prizes for older boats (10-20 yrs and over 20) and for helms over 60! Breakfast and afternoon tea included with on the water refreshments. |
Hi what time does it start at Goodwood? |
AS above! http://www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/welcome.aspx |
for anyone else turning up I plan to rendezvous on the outside of the circuit at Madgwick bend. Its the first corner after the start line - come in to the main entrance and turn left - after the start line stands there is a bank on the right which gives good views of the circuit - keep walking until the track bends. behind the bank will be a series of vendors - coffee - burgers and bars - meet at the coffee place at 11.00AM - if you get lost call me on 07867 506058 - got to check me cravat! |
Hi Stuart, |
excellent - room for a bit of fettling in the shed if needed on thursday. |
Tweeds aired, cravat pressed & ducati ready to rock & roll! see you at madgewick. |
very pleasant evening with dirty hands and Mr Dalby - now I know why Andrew is such a shy and retiring chap - they managed to polish off my extra stength chilli and more vino than is decent - sun is shining and Mr Dalby Velo puts us all to shame! He must spend thousands on polish. Great day ahead - see you all there |
Driving along the A27 this morning saw lots of old cars heading off towards Goodwood. Included an AC Cobra who had embrassingly run out of fuel. Appeared driver had sent his wife off with a fuel can to go buy some... |
thanks stu for an excellent day out, deepy, you are fashion icon shame the hai karate was left at home!sadly the driveshaft snapped on the van on the m25 ,hooray for the aa,if only my vw was as reliable as a velocette!! |
Just to say thanks to The Gurn for the splendid hospitality and to DH for the transport and M25 adventure (I hope the van is fixed and please can I have my Velo back?!). Great blokes. Really good to see Deepy (and finally meet his dad), MC Mikey, Dan and Ian. Also a pleasant surprise to see Mr Batt et al.
