Topic : COOKHAM REACH SAILING CLUB - 24th & 25th April

Cookham is looking forward to hosting the Vintage Racing (24th) and the second meeting of the Thames Series (25th). The first race starts on the Saturday at 11.30am and the day will conclude with the Guy Pearce Memorial Trophy which is open to all ages of boat. Entry fee £8 including a donation to the RNLI. On Sunday the first race will be at 11.00am. Entry fee £10. Lunch available on both days. We can't guarantee to repeat last year's wind strength but you can be assured of a generous welcome. Do come and see us.

Sadly we are going to miss our open this year, but I am sure it will be as well supported as always. Don't forget that there is a rather nice cut glass trophy up for grabs in the Guy Pearce Memorial on Saturday afternoon and it is not taking age handicaps in to account this year. It is a straight forward race for the line. This is due to the fact that we have a Vintage wing open on Saturday too for the older boats.

Have fun and we will see you all at Hayling.

Weather is looking good - sunny of course
But more importantly the winds are in the south at 8knts on Saturday - a good direction for Cookham Reach. A loveley day for sailing old boats on the river!
Our 'Vintage Man', Mervyn Allen, has asked me to find him a crew for Saturday. He is a gentleman to sail with and has a beautiful old boat, so if you want to get involved there is a perfect opportunity. Get in touch with him directly or via me - I will get you together

Andrew - thanks for comming back to me on this.
I think Mervyn has found a crew? That was the last I heard.
His number is 02082318911 - I have left a message for him so I hope he will get back to you this afternoon.
Otherwise if you turn up tomorrow I think there is a good chance of a sail

Thank you Cookham for a lovely day yesterday.

I'm certain I put the children's coats in the car, but for the life of me can't find them now. Should they turn up there, please would you let me know. One is Jack's blue one and the other is a grey fleece (age 4)

Thank you

The rain stopped as we pulled into the boat park to start rigging. Then 15 mins before launching the wind changed from a flat calm to a nice force 3 SW with a beat downsteam to a mark off the club.
Duncan Salmon won all 3 races as the breeze gradually increased through out the day. Not as windy as last year but boats were spotted planing on occasion on the run upstream.
Tnaks to Cookham for a good days racing.

Overall:
1. Duncan Salmon 3702
2. David Vines 3456
3. Andy Jones 3571
4. Richard Harris 1079
