anyone recommend a good sailing club up here aswell for the summer?

Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club (Near Rochdale) would be a good bet, strong friendly Merlin Fleet and several of the Winders & employees sail there so boat bits easy to come by.  Feel free to come down and have a look. We sail Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.

Chandlers near by are MailSpeed Marine (Warrington) and Boats & Bits (Huddersfield).

Some one obviously had a bad experience at Scammonden Water. Don't let an internet gripe put you off. Dave, perhaps you should add a +ve comment to balance it up. Never been there myself so I can't judge.

blackpool sounds and looks good but i reacon its 2 fair away.

but might see if i am able to do the silver tiller though.
