MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Ranelagh Open

It's the first silver tiller of the Season at Ranelagh this coming weekend (Sunday 28th Feb).

Firstly, i'd like to encourage folks to come down for what should be a lovely sail on the river!

Secondly, (based on the first assertion) is there any kind soul based in/around London who'd be willing to lend a boat? Ellie and I are keen to get on the water.

Regards,

Chris

What is the parking like at ranelagh these days? Last time I came I had to park quite a distance form the club. I am tossing up between Ranelagh and Chichester at the moment. Allot depends on the forcast too of course as I like sailing at both places.

There are no restrictions on Sunday and Fulham are in Sunderland. Tide will be quite high however. Leave your boat and trailer by the Club and park up one of the side streets or on higher bits of the embankment. Club will be open at least 2 hours before the start with free tea and coffee, food & bar after. Bit early to know what the weather will be like. Hope to see lots of you here.

Chris, you should be fine with a fixed rudder. Only a couple of spots that get a bit shallower. You might have to reach down to dislodge the odd carrier bag or branch so keep your mouth closed while doing that but otherwise I think you should be ok....
See you Sunday.

Was that in the Merlin or The Yawl. Is this a sign of old age creeping on.

From memory:
1st Matt Biggs
2nd Duncan Salmon
3rd Andy Dalby
4th Alex Jackson
5th Andy Harris

No need to worry about rule 42 with quite a nice wind with spinnakers downstream. Tide was good as it didn't come in as the Thames barrier was closed.

An impressive 20 finishers out of 21 starters.

Thank you Ranelagh for an excellent afternoon's sailing.
