Topic : The Recession is over

There doesn't seem to be as many high numbered boats (3650+)on the for sale register as previous years? does this mean there are less new boats under construction? who's having a new boat built? where are they going and will more high numbered boats come onto the market or are they selling by word of mouth? After all, we are told the recession is over and all is well.... so we can go out and buy some new toys!!

There are at least 2 new Winders heading eastwards to Brightlingsea.
One is a replacement/upgrade, while the other is for a new fleet member.

As always, some boats seem to sell within a club, and so they don't get mentioned on the list here: while others get advertised here and don't seem to have much interest.

But as for a recovery, I thought that everyone was agreed on the cure: it has to be consumer driven. So, go out and buy some new toys ASAP.

Why not arrange for a local wood builder to put together one of Keith Callaghan Kits for you, he's taken so much data from Laurie I'm sure you could get one put together.

3640 is a nice boat if you fancy something a bit different. Smart built very pretty and has been seen to go pretty quickly.

When I was in the market a couple of years ago, there was very little on offer, though eventually I managed to buy the very desirable 'Midnight Flight' (hope R&E are reading this!) This was followed by a period of ready second hand availability. Seems it just goes in cycles.

I suspect the recent tidy up of the "for sale" list has been the real factor since boats often used to linger on the list long after they were sold.

There hasn't been a tidy up, all the ones deleted since christmas have been sold.

And most have been seen out sailing too!! It is a very good thing to see such a small list.

Sounds like there is a few out there that will come up soon though.

Anthony I have taken a deposit for the boat so I think it is going to a new home. Whilst it seems unlikely that it should fall apart as a deal if it should do I will contact you
Chris

Allot of the boats on the list, particularly the older ones get sold on e-bay, often unseen by most of us. I watch it pretty carfully to see what goes. For instance No 730 has just been sold for a whopping £50!! Someone got a bargin.

Dark n Stormy (3619) will be up for sale as soon as I/Celia gets round to writing the advert. New cover and nearly new sails. We plan to send her off to Graham Eels to get a tidy up but open to offers.

Ahh well, cheers for letting me know Chris.

To be fair I may have to list mine (3577) before I get a new one, don't really have room for two at once!
