Does anyone know of anything that will remove silicon sealant from a varnished deck without dmaging the finish?

Screwfix offer a an excellent product which I have found works better than several other products I have tried, when you apply water you stop any further reaction, I have not tried on varnish but its not expesive and try it on a small area first.
