I am trying to trace a Merlin that sailed at Leigh Flash in the early 70's. My father, Peter Jones from near Ormskirk, sailed the boat there and sold it in 1976 when my family moved to Canada. It was purchased by a doctor from the Wirral. The boat was named Coral II (2?) I'm not sure of the sail number or any other details unfortunately. If anyone knows if the boat has survived all these years I'd be interested to know what has happened to it.

1471 was built to the design of Ian Proctor in 1962/3 - to his mk 15 design- the current year book shows her name changed to Sabre but does not list an owner no doubt others can access older year books and let you know the last known owner!

1471 'Jinty' is a Proctor designed Mk V1 built by Bob Hoare probably in 1962 as she was first recorded in the 1963 MROA year book but without the owner's name.
In the 1964 year book her owner is shown as J. E. Partington at Leigh SC.
Her next owner in 1968 was G. L. Foulkes at the same club and he/she changed her name to 'Coral 11'.
The 1970 YB records the owner as P.Jones, 29 Gillars Green Drive, Eccleston, Nr St Helens.
In 1982 she was owned by T. Seddon, Sudbury, Suffolk and of Clacton SC.
I am sorry but there appears to be no further record of any later owners in later MROA year books.
