Topic : How much travel on my traveller?

Another question

I noticed last night sailing Prologue (a mk1 Winder) for the second time that the traveller stops about 1" from the end when I yank on the handle.

Is this normal, has it been set especially at this position (its the same on both sides) or should I adjust them to get the full travel?

Cheers

It should go all the way.
It can be fiddly to get it right and it might just have been tied up with the wrong lengths. There could be some limitations on the way the two-to-one has been configured on prologue that means it can't travel far enough.
The original configuration was to have the two-to-one above the thwart up the side of the hoop. Many changed this to have the block run under the thwart and the two-to-one running back to the c/board case - this configuration might not have enough run for the block, although it should be possible. The 'current' configuration has the two-to-one on the 'handle' rope running back to a small hole on the thwart about 2/3rd the way out from the middle. Despite the fiddle of getting it through the hole, this is the easiest configuration to replace the handle rope (which wears out fastest) and adjust correctly, as it doesn't require untying the block and the adjustments are made from the outside of the thwart - not lying upside down on your back under the thwart!

Should just be a case of shortening the 1: part or lengthening the 2: part or a combination of both. May need new strings to get it right. Top tip don't cut anything until you know it works boths ways.

If you do restring, be careful you go through all the guides etc the right way, what I do is tape the new to the old and then gently pull through.
