For those intending to race at Exmouth and Starcross on the 30th and 31st May, I would recommend that you seek accommodation in Exmouth. There are numerous links to B&Bs and a local campsite on the Exmo website, the recently refurnished club will be serving food throughout the evening and the bar will be open. The town has plenty of restaurants, bars and pubs and let us not forget Samantha's Nightspot http://www.samanthasexmouth.com/ Exmouth's 'The Biggest and Best night out in town' argaubly also the only night out in town.
Although there is the option of sailing up to Starcross on the flood tide with Mr Jennings and Frank, I'd recommend people make the short drive to Starcross in the morning (maximum 40 mins and that's if you drive as slowly as Ross, 30 mins for everyone else).
Exmouth - 12.00 start, 2 (proper length) races back to back, both races to count Starcross - 11.00 start, 3 races back to back, on disguard.
They are aiming to have everyone finished and off the water as early as possible to avoid the worst of the traffic.
Don't forget, this is a buy one Silver Tiller result get one free weekend, with both Sea and Open category points.

How do you pronounce the nightclub's web address?

Hmm, I was just thinking that too......
Thanks Alex, a good summary. Both Ben Jennings and Nick Turner have been working hard to organise these open meetings, so we're looking forward to a superb weekend sailing.

We've been super-organised & booked a B&B in Exmouth. I had a good look round and price-wise they are all similar at around £30pp. Camping was an expensive option - they would only offer me a multiple-night package and we didn't fancy banking on engineering works on the railway come Sunday morning!
Availability was dwindling so I would recommend not leaving it until the last minute!

Me and Ross are coming - watch out Matt Biggs, we'll learn how to get round the course without capsizing soon!
Alex - can I have a lift with you round to Starcross in the morning rather than Ross? Gives me 10 more minutes in bed!

The cheek of it....
Agree with the first point, no more capsizing allowed this year Mr D

With 7-9 Starcross merlins out this could be the biggest turnout of the year so far! Plus P&B sponsorsed goodies!

How many entries are expected?
Posted: 28/05/2009 18:26:13 By: Tom Gruitt |
Hard to gauge really, other opens are averaging around 25 with no home boats plus its a bumper sea/open ST weekend. What with the great forcast aswell I'd expect anything from 30-40.
Being a regular face on the circuit it would be great to show people where I sail for a change, bringing the fleet back to its Rowsell/Turner/Driver roots!

29 boats at Starcross today :)
Glen and Olly won, Mike Calvert and Chris 2nd, Matt Biggs and Rob Kennagh 3rd. Tricky conditions for the first two races with some huge shifts, but eventually settling down to a superb sea breeze for the 3rd race
Exe SC results - Mike and Chris 1st, Dave Winder and Pippa 2nd, Matt and Rob 3rd. Disappointingly the forecast fresh easterly breeze died away through the first race, leaving drifting conditions with an awkward chop for the second race
Also some good results for Steve and Gill Leney with a 2nd place on both days
Full report and results to follow
