Hello me again! I have read all the threads on Insurance and the general opinion seems to be that both Noble Marine and Bishop Skinner are worth a look, horses for courses etc. Without reading and comparing every word of both policies, does it just boil down to price and service? or does it depend on what boat I have i.e. Glass NSM1, less value go for the cheaper insurer? Thanks

Hi,
Unfortunatley it does often boil down to comparing words.... You'll need to start with the values of your boat, trolley, trailer and cover. Include now any substantial improvements you'll make (eg. sails!). If you under-insure, then you'll be under recompensed (even for non-write-offs). The additional premium for the extra value isn't usually very much.
Now think of whether you're prepared to take some risk yourself - e.g. 60% cover on mast & sails when racing?
Now you can get quotes based on the value of the boat & accessories, and the risk you want to cover (the 3rd party risks are pretty standard).
I've not had a claim recently, so I can't give feeback on relative services (and I hope you don't either!). If one company has a significantly higher/lower quote than the others, it's worth checking out the detailed differences...
