Sail no 2127 a Supersticion design by Mike Jackson built by Andersen Rigden & Perkins of Whitstable. Would have been well built.

Sorceress is MR 2127 a Superstition design by Mike Jackson built by Anderson Rigden & Perkins in Whitstable probably in 1968. Her first owner as recorded in the 1969 MROA year book was A Harber of Ranelagh SC. If you want to know more please let me know and I'll search later year books.

I bought a Superstion (Sidhe Gaoth 2349) from e-bay last year.

Built by C Heath of Hampton.

Very well built and looks very like a bigger version of Jackson's March Hare design N12. Only just starting to get to grips with it,but it goes well (lots of rocker and tacks fast whcih is good for inland waters) and I suggest it's worth getting hold of if you can.

Hi, many thanks for the responses so far. SOunds like a good boat, I will have a closer look but it looks like it has been neglected for a while. Any areas I should look at more closely on a Merlin? I assume the hog, planking delaminated etc.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy,

Personally I would look around the hog and centre board casing for any signs of rot as this can be a big anf expensive issue to resolve. Popped plankes though old glue and duff decks can easily be repaired, albeit again complete deck replacement is expensive if done by a professional.

Just for your info I am a member of weirwood sc as well! I used to sale MR 3478 there, and a handful of other MR over the years, but lack of crew forced the sale 3 yrs ago so now sail an OK which I intend to do the Wednesday evenings, i'll look out for you.

I am restoring MR 908 at the moment, a lovely old Proctor XIWC. Once on the water you are more than welcome to helm/crew her with me.

Hi Richard, Many thanks I would be interested in crewing if you need a crew. I am sailing an old Taylor Finn but mainly supporting my son in the Oppie fleet and helping out there. I can't get a day pass for Sat and Sun!!! I also haev a Wildfire but it is a large and heavy dinghy and difficult to launch without the car to pull it out again. A Merlin would suit me I am not in to the Laser 2000 and I prefer a wooden boat really.

Hope to see you at Weirwood.

Rgds,

Andy

I have done the odd Wednesday evening.
