3172 is a Disguy's design and was built by Guy Winder probably in 1979. She was called 'Guy'dOg' and according to the 1980 Year Book her first owner was J Anderton at Hollingworth SC In 1990 she was owned by P Dewhurst at Burwain SC and in 1993 by D Booth who's club was not recorded in that year's book. The 1995 YB shows her name changed to 'Bonjour le Pop' and the owner as R Marsden at Carsington SC. In 1998 her owner was recorded as Richard Holmes at Coniston SC and she was renamed 'Sugar'. I am sorry but the MROA year books contain no later records of the owners of your boat.

Hope this doesn't generate a problem for you but I seem to recall this is the boat that was stolen (on trailer ready to go to an open I think) when a couple of years old and disappeared completely for some considerable time. No doubt someone at Hollingworth will have fuller story.
We owned a sister 'Disguys' 3158 for some time hence the recollection. These boats are very responsive/ quick tacking and were mostly built by Guy for Northern/ Hollingworth owners-when NSM1 was the fashionable steed of the day for most others.

Errr, the stolenboats website is not all-knowing! It just has a list of recent boats that they have been told about.

True it is not all knowing it relies on optional input from insurance companies and the police. So it is true that the boat still may have been stolen, or stolen and recovered.
Although in terms of recent boats, the one Merlin listed was dated 2004.
Interesting to see how many Lasers get stolen compared to classes like Merlin, GP14, Solo, FireBall etc.
