I have managed to find a willing company to buy me a set of sail's. The problem i have is that i am running a Ali mast. Can any one give me some advice on what would be the best sails to go for that will work well with this type of mast?

Dick Batt, but most of the others also do Ali compatible sails

Most sailmakers will take account of which mast you have before cutting the cloth. That is always assuming that you tell them!
I've researched a number of sailmakers, they are happy to discuss what you want (to match mast characteristics & other factors). If you find one that has only "one standard suit" then I'd suggest you go elsewhere!
Speed. P&B, Dynamic, Batt, and a number of others advertise (website) that they will make sails for older masts etc.
As an example, I was negitiating for a new Solo Mainsail at the Dinghy Exhibition. The successful candidate is making one for me to mathc my mast and my weight (at a competative price). The few that were less interested in the details didn't get the custom

I had Mike McNamara make a custom set for Gannet and found that he was the most charming and helpful guy. Made them in a creamy coloured dacron material so that they look like the original cotton but with the advantages of synthetics. Many have commented on them. Beautifully made and delivered to Aberdeen at a good price considering they were tailor made. I had another set made by another maker for another boat, mainsail tack pulled out after 2 races and I was charged for the repair and carriage. Needless to say - no repeat order.

The mast should be a superspar M1 I used to use Kevan at Alverbanks on 3498 his sails always suited the mast well and were fast He is in Derby therefore relatively local and always reasonable

Kevin is very helpful, and has a lot of merlin patterns for most of the popular masts, and will also make to measure Kevin's No 01332342586
