Had a letter from letting agency stating that the Marine at Salcombe had ceased trading for a few years . |
Looks pretty closed up at the moment, and there does not seem to be much activity. Suggest that you contact John Murrell to confirm. |

As we understand it the Marine Hotel has shut for the forseeable future, last week they closed the 'health spa' down despite many people having paid for the rest of this year and the only person on site is a caretaker. I believe that this does not effect the appartments. |
What a shame. I had stayed in the Marine on many occassions in late 90's early 2000's, with its spectacular views of the estuary it was a great place. Oh well nothing lasts forever! |
and to add, the big negative out of this is the loss of jobs in the community! |
Looking at the news at lunchtime and the general stae of the world economically and politically and with terrorism etc I think it's time to pull out my copy of "Is it just me or is everything just s**t" and give it a re-read. I have noticed that the admission age for the "Grumpy old Men'" Club has substantially lowered in the past year or so as well. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Just-Me-Everything-Shit-Encyclopedia/dp/0316729531 |
Since I drive past the sign on the front cover of the book most days you have to wonder. There is a better brown sign to a Maccie D's on the A35 by Dorchester that actually says "Restaurant". |
John, |
I thought quantitative easing was something you did to the mainsheet in a gust! |
The hotel will re-open when the world can afford it...remember Magrathea..?? |
I am not surprised it has closed. Last year Pete and Helen Richards and two friends stopped for a drink there - 4 double G+Ts - cost 36! |
Magrathea? Hmmm....perhaps, Earth-people, it is time to ask the mice? |
In the distant past my Mum stayed at the Salcombe Hotel during several Merlin Rocket Weeks. When sadly that closed she tried the Marine once and never came to Salcombe again. |
