MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Chichester Open - Saturday 28th March 11am start

Although the Chichester open was dropped from the 2009 ST circuit, CYC are still keen to put on an open for us as they had reserved the date. In order for them to hold the event however they would like at least 10 boats to compete. Note there are no clashes with other Merlin events on this date - a Saturday so won't even conflict with club racing!

I'm sure I can drum up support from several of the Shoreham guys to turn up, and the HISC fleet is not far away. Could I here numbers please over the next week so I can get back to CYC. Try to keep the replies short and concise.

Many thanks, Ross

Cheers, Ross

Ross, is Chichester still a potential? There are 3 boats from Parkstone who have shown an interest in coming. Mark.

Add two I heard about at Hamble brings upto 9. I think the club would make a decision in the next week.

Shoreham runs a Pursuit race on the Easter Sat and the Easter Cup on the Sun and Mon (3 from 4 to count).

Not to mention the 5 day Adur beer festival....

Guessing other big clubs run events over Easter weekend too

Any more takers? Still hanging around 9 boats so not sure is viable unless get another 6 or so as some bound not to turn up...

We should let CYC know by the weekend I think to be fair to them

Thanks, Ross

Ross -

Times moving on - its less than a week away to the proposed Chichester meeting. Has a decision been taken on this? Some people have to arrange ahead if they are going to attend a Saturday meeting. The offer of three Wembley boats is still on if we are given the green light now. Mark C.

Ross -

Sorry, but we have now passed our deadline - the three Wembley boats I'm afraid are off!

Alex and I heard back from CYC this afternoon. We tried to leave the decision to the last minute to see how many people would put their names down. Sadly they deemed it not enough to make the event viable.

Fingers crossed it is back on the ST circuit next year!!

Regards, Ross
